I’m hoping you’ll join me, in a quiet act of resistance, in the email space to preserve more of the authentic, intentional connections that compose our community of music lovers. For the past decade, mudsong has been crafting original, tale-length concerts that sound the heartache and hallelujah of our breaking human hearts. Thomas King said, “The truth about stories is that’s all we are." The truth about mudsong is songstories are all we are.
Original stories. Fresh songs. Crafted from the sloppy, raw mess of life? That's what we do. As musicians, we anticipate our evenings to open on the hearthfire of the bass guitar, shimmy through the saxophone, and linger over heart and soul. We've been blessed to be featured on Lakeland PBS’ Backroads (see video), and BSU’s Live. If your head dips & nods like a descendant of Bill Withers, if your heart takes lyrical gut-punches from Dawes, or your hips wiggle to Stax’s Memphis Soul, you’ll enjoy the rollicking, sometimes reeling, ride that is an evening with mudsong. While members of mudsong have changed over the years, we are Craig Haugen, Pete McDonnell, Mary Overlie, and Dan Schnackenberg. We meet each other at the improvisational intersection of rock, funk, jazz and soul and are fortunate to call the Northwoods home.
