Ugly Bird

a retelling of the Ugly Duckling in verse and song

Ugly Bird was birthed as a project during the moment when nearly all live music opportunities were closed to the public, in the fall of 2020. As such, we were lucky enough as a band to give it life during an episode of Backroads, produced by Lakeland Public Television. We filmed it live in November 2020 at the RailRiver Folk School in Bemidji, and it was broadcast in February of 2021. It enjoys repeated broadcast on occasion too.

Due to the nature of the Backroads format, we were only able to share the music of the story; the verse that wraps around this project, in the cantastoria tradition can be read on in the lyric gallery below.
